Cooling / Coolant System Service

Bret’s Autoworks is here to help you keep your vehicle on the road and running safe and smooth. We all think about changing the oil in our vehicles regularly but often forget about some of the other essential fluids. The coolant (or anti-freeze) in the coolant system needs to be regularly maintained and replaced, just like engine oil. Depending on your driving habits and conditions, this service can vary significantly from vehicle to vehicle. That is where the automotive professionals at Bret’s Autoworks can help you. By completing an inspection of your coolant condition and vehicle, we will be able to formulate a plan that works for you!
What is the cooling system?
The engine cooling system is comprised of several parts, pieces, and coolant, that all work together. These components can include:
- Water Pump
- Coolant (Anti-Freeze)
- Upper and Lower Radiator Hoses
- Radiator
- Cooling Fans
- Thermostat and Thermostat Housing
- Many Small Hoses and Coolant Pipes
The coolant system is not the AC System. The A/C system is a fantastic luxury, but the coolant system is extremely vital to your vehicle’s drivability and safe engine operation!
The primary function of the cooling system is to keep your engine cool while operating. It runs coolant through the engine at all times to keep the engine from overheating. It also carries that excess heat to the heater core in the colder temperatures to provide heat inside of the vehicle, through the action of the heater.
Keeping your engine at normal operating temperatures is the primary goal of the coolant system. This is not always an easy job. There are several components that could leak or not operate correctly, thus causing your vehicle to overheat. If your engine overheats, it could cause permanent engine damage. The coolant level and condition need to be monitored regularly, and Bret’s Autoworks can help you with that! The coolant system is a pressurized system that can be dangerous to check, especially while hot. Bret’s Autoworks wants to take the guesswork out of the equation. We will be able to check the coolant level and coolant condition for you. We would then be able to accurately advise you if it is time for a coolant fluid exchange and service.
Bret’s Autoworks offers a comprehensive coolant fluid exchange service that will keep your vehicle’s coolant system healthy for many years to come with regular maintenance. When we complete a coolant fluid exchange service, we push out all of the old coolant, send cleaners and conditioners through the coolant system and then install all brand new, clean coolant. The cleaners and conditioners will aid in the prevention of rust and scale deposits in the future, thus resulting in longer-lasting coolant moving forward. Your engine will thank you many times over. By keeping your engine running at normal operating temperatures, it will reduce extra stress on other components also and keep you safely on the road for many miles and years to come.
